As a woman, having control over my body is an issue of great importance to me. Therefore, I cannot imagine voting for John McCain. But, I think he's a man of decent character and would lead the country differently than George Bush. Thought this editorial in the NYTimes by David Brooks was interesting vis and vis the war:

While I am afraid he is going to perpetuate a war that's unwinnable, he seems to be respectfully soliciting the leadership in other countries for assistance. It's not the same kind of arrogance that we have been accustomed to over the last eight years.
Though the process has gone on for too long, we will soon have two candidates on both sides who will hopefully employ a sense of humility and reason to the race.
I do have to tell you though, that regarding abortion, a woman does have the right to control whether she gets pregnant or not. That is where the control lies. Once she chooses to have sex, she has chosen potential pregnancy and must therefor deal with the consequences. The only time that abortion could even be considered a viable possibility is if the mother's life is in danger by carrying a baby to term.
Regardless of when you believe life begins, the potential for life begins with fertilization and if you take that away, you have taken that life.
